Montclair's charm lies in its cultural attractions, fine dining, unique shops, galleries, museums, and it's close proximity to New York City, as well as many other fun places to visit. Montclair is just 12 miles west of Manhattan. It is 6.2 square miles and has approximately 40,000 residents. Montclair celebrates the arts through its many fine art galleries, museums, and local artists and in recent years has become a mecca for dining and culinary experiences. Montclair is eighty-eight percent residential and has a diverse architectural landscape, approximately two thirds of which are Colonial homes, with Victorians, Tudors and Ranches accounting for a large portion of the balance. There are a total of eleven schools in the Montclair School System consisting of seven elementary, three middle schools and one high school. In Montclair, children do not necessarily attend the school closest to their home. Each of the elementary and middle schools has a specialized programs designed to closely support the individual learning style of each student. children may attend any school their paretns choose as long as space is available.
